My first performance with Aljashu & Friends (led by Julia Madeson). Come hear beautiful modal infused melodies in a music and language that have traveled throughout Spain and the Middle East since the Jewish and Muslim expulsion from Spain in 1492. The band is: Julia Madeson, vocals; Tev Stevig, guitar and oud; I'll be on percussion (Doumbek, riq, cajon primarily). Sabi Saltiel, a guitar performance major from Turkey and the Sephardic tradition, will also be featured. Student performers include Cagri Erdem, Jussi Reijonen, Sarah-Jane Pugh, and Jean-Pierre D'Alençon. The theme is A Celebration of Light for pre-Hanuka wih songs of love, life, dreams and faith.
